Alvi’s Drift Private Cellar is the coming together of generations of winemaking heritage and the uncompromising pursuit of a life-long dream. A vision to produce wines from our family farm that stand proudly shoulder-to-shoulder with the very best in the world. A philosophy of honoring thousands of years of wine culture without bowing to it in the pursuit of innovation, excellence, quality and flavour.

Alvi’s Drift takes its name from the low-water bridge across the Breede River which links the two sides of the family farm. Inspired by the first Albertus Viljoen “Alvi” Van Der Merwe, the bridge was built in 1928 and is still in common use today, affectionally known by the local community as “Alvi’s Drift”.
